Talk:Torn City Wiki
From TornCityWiki
Here's a little something for the front page, which I think would be good for people to know when they first see the front page:
This wiki has 136 Articles.
I'm sure you can tinker around with the font size and such, but the point is to put the number of articles on the front page. I've found it useful before, so I don't see why it can't be now. Edit the page to see the source for it ;)--BurgerKing 01:38, 30 August 2006 (PDT)
excellent idea, implemented on the home page -Steve

Left hand nav links
If you have any suggestions for the left hand nav, please let me know and I can implement them. I do want to keep that side kind of lite, but I know that there is more that can be placed there. -Steve
Yes, well I've worked more extensively with a much larger wiki, so I'm sure there are some major differences. I'm sure to cut down on bandwidth costs, not putting items into the wiki's server just for an item description is a good idea, though it was for the wiki in question...
Anyways, the nav bar is fine for right now. There's not a huge pile of things to really talk about at the moment, but as the wiki eventually expands, placing pages into specific categories and then listing some of the more useful categories on the front page would be a big help for new users. But, like I said, right now it's peachy keen. I didn't know how big of a revamp on some pages you would want (adding categories like jobs or missions, for example) so I kinda had to hold back. Slap up a few of the "needs improvement" notices and mention what in specific you think could be improved and I'll see what I can do, mate.--BurgerKing 16:41, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
We're open to all suggestions

Thanks for the input. I've been in the middle of buying a company, so I haven't had the time to really work on the wiki the way I'd like to. But please feel free to make suggestions, write, change improve, add, anything you like. Don't hold back. Assume that EVERYTHING has a "needs improvement" on it.
This isn't here for us, we're really looking to provide a place for people playing the game to have a place to communicate and learn, and we're using the platform to learn more about wiki for some implementations down the road, which explains some of the formatting and different things we're doing. If you think building out the navbar is a good idea, lets run with it.
The goal is to get people using it... bring on the ideas. I probably won't have a lot of time to work in here for the next month or so as I get used to the new company, and running it, but once that's under my belt I'm hoping to get a lot more into the wiki.
thanks --wootbuyer
L4suicide has stuck some links on The Basics Would be better on its own page, but at least you have somewhere for now!?! ~L4
Put this on the top of the main page maybe? (suggestion)

[edit] Earn some TC Cash |
Used for sysops to make announcements and the community to suggest announcements on the talk page of the template. Advised that announcements would need asterisks (*) at each announcement entry to keep it organized. Would need protection if added.
Sorry if it seems odd I'm not so great at suggesting policies. --Fighter22 Talk 17:01, 31 January 2007 (PST)
Request
Can we cycle the user number on the front page? I not only understand, but support wootbuyer having his ID (133788) on the frontpage. But I would like to get access to some points to, and I think we could all benefit. Can we get a list of active contributors who want their ID numbers on the front page signup link, and then work up some kind of a schedule?
Another Section! New pages, actually
Some of you may have noticed that I've been going about busily adding stuff in. I'd like some help with the IRC page, because I know there's a lot that I missed. Also, Condensed Money Tutorial needs some neatening-up and expansion.
